The Society had taken a break from external competitions, but in 2016 decided to put a toe back in the water with the Cambridge Camera Club Inter-Club Digital Competition. 35 clubs from the East Anglian Federation entered the digital-only Competition. We had to enter 6 images, one in each in the following 5 categories:
- Monochrome
- People
- Landscape
- Nature
- Open
plus an image from any category in case of a tie.
No more than 2 images could be taken by one photographer.
RESULTS: The level of competition proved to be ferociously high and sadly overall we were well down the list. Our highest scoring entry was Des's landscape "At Miyajama" with an excellent 18 out of 20.
The winning club was Wisbech & District Camera Club who scored 97 out of a possible maximum of 100. Here are their winning entries:
For future competitions we need to understand better what sort of images the judges are looking for, to help us to take more successful photos and to help the internal selectors of entries to choose the most likely winners. We have a lot to learn!
OUR ENTRIES: Our selectors had an incredibly difficult job choosing between the 93 entries, but eventually agreed on 5 images plus a tie-breaker. Congratulations to Richard, Greg, Des, Natalie, Susi and Sue!
The chosen images are shown below. Many thanks to everyone who took part.
