Christmas Walk and Social

The weather threatened to be cold, wet and windy, but still about a dozen stalwart members of the City of London and Cripplegate Photographic Society gathered at one of the many exits from London Bridge Station and set off with cameras at the ready. It was already dark and the festive lights and decorations were at their best. In fact it was not as cold or wet or windy as predicted and so the saunter through the Galleria onto the Thames path and then across Tower Bridge was quite pleasant. The challenge was to make images of Tower Bridge which were different from tourist shots or traditional postcard views. The river was choppy, making for interesting reflections and the wet surface of the roads and pavements also reflected the lights and shadows in interesting ways, so we were not short of inspiration.
As usual, the group spread out, with those using tripods settling in some places and those anxious to get to the refreshments making quicker work of the photography and striding ahead.
The Liberty Bounds, where we congregated, joined by two more CoL&CPS members, was rammed with Christmas parties and others, but we piled up our gear under coats and scarves, clustered round a small table and shared a few drinks, before dispersing into the night, full of good cheer and seasonal wishes. Only the pop-up gallery in January will tell if we have achieved any of our photographic aims. We look forward to seeing you all then and hearing of your New Year Resolutions.
Happy Christmas to you all.
